Introduce yourself and describe your role at Oak Pointe.
My name is Stephanie Reed and I’m the Director of Sales at Oak Pointe of Maryville, an assisted living and memory care community owned and operated by Provision Living Senior Communities. I started with Oak Pointe in September 2014 when our community was still being built. It has been quite a ride, with so much fun and so many memories made. Since starting this position in 2014, I’ve had the opportunity to help over 100 families and there have been countless moments that have made a huge impression on my heart.
My primary role at Oak Pointe is helping families navigate their options with senior living and teaching them about all the things Oak Pointe has to offer. I am here to help them through the process of joining the Oak Pointe family. I also represent Oak Pointe throughout the greater Maryville area by attending events, meeting with businesses and organizations so people know about us.
In what way does your job provide you with meaning and purpose?
I get to be the first person to learn about our residents and their families—and that’s so important to knowing how we can help support them. Once they move in, seeing the residents engage in activities or conversations with friends in the dining room is very gratifying. Seeing them settle in and begin making new memories is such a great feeling knowingI helped them achieve that.
What motivates you to give your best at work?
Knowing that I am making a difference in a family’s life makes it all worthwhile. Seeing people improve their quality of life, helping them make new memories, enjoying life again, and supporting them with living a fulfilling life. I am motivated by my team members who always go the extra mile. At the end of the day, we are all just people helping people. Working in this industry is one of the most rewarding things I think I could do with my career, and it’s hard to imagine myself doing anything else.
