Connected Living at Kinwell at South Lyon

The right support for this part of the journey

For many families, there comes a time when traditional Assisted Living may no longer feel like enough, yet Memory Care doesn't seem like the right fit.

Maybe you've noticed the small things. A missed appointment here, a repeated question there. They're still the person you've always known, still finding joy in the people and moments they love. But you know something has changed. And knowing what to do next isn't always easy.

That's why we created Connected Living.

Connected Living is a boutique, small-house neighborhood at Kinwell at South Lyon designed for seniors experiencing early memory changes who can still manage much of daily life on their own. It provides the right balance of connection, wellness, and personalized support while helping residents maintain the independence and confidence that remain so important.

Choosing the next step doesn't have to be overwhelming. We're here to help you understand your options and determine what feels right for your loved one.

Questions You May Be Asking

When someone you love begins experiencing early memory changes, it's natural to have questions. You may have already found yourself wondering...

  • How much help does my loved one really need today?
  • Are these changes simply part of aging, or is it time for a little more support?
  • How do I support their independence while making sure they're safe and thriving?
  • Which level of care is right for my loved one?
  • How do I know when it's time to make a change?

Signs Your Loved One May Benefit from Connected Living

The questions above often begin with small observations. Memory changes rarely happen all at once. They show up in small moments that, over time, start to add up. You might recognize some of these:

  • Repeating questions or stories more often than before
  • Missed medications or appointments, even with reminders in place
  • Unopened mail, unpaid bills, or an emptier refrigerator than usual
  • Getting flustered by tasks that used to be routine — a favorite recipe, the TV remote, errands
  • Withdrawing from hobbies, friends, or community activities
  • Increased anxiety in unfamiliar places or reluctance to leave home
  • Weight changes or skipped meals when eating alone
  • A spouse or family member quietly doing more and more to keep daily life on track

One or two of these on their own may simply be part of aging. But if you've been noticing these changes more often, it's worth a conversation.

Let's Talk It Through.

Our family advisors are here to listen, answer your questions, and help you explore your options at your own pace. No pressure. Just guidance.

Life in Connected Living

Life in Connected Living is built around familiarity, companionship, and the comfort of knowing what comes next. For older adults experiencing early signs of memory loss, those predictable rhythms can foster confidence, reduce uncertainty, and help residents continue living each day to the fullest.

What daily life includes:

  • Cognitive wellness
  • Movement and physical activity
  • Social connections
  • Familiar routines
  • Personalized encouragement and reminders

Because it's not about filling the day. It's about helping residents continue living well.

Designed Small, On Purpose

Connected Living is home to just 14 residents. It's a small-house neighborhood with it's own living room, open kitchen, and engagement area, it creates the warmth and familiarity of a family home.

Because the neighborhood is intentionally small, the same dedicated team has more opportunities to build meaningful relationships, recognize subtle changes as they happen, and provide more one-on-one attention. For someone experiencing memory changes, that sense of consistency isn't just comforting. It's grounding.

Assisted Living

Designed for older adults who value independence but may benefit from personalized support with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, medication management, and other everyday tasks.

Residents also enjoy social opportunities, wellness programming, dining, and community amenities.

Connected Living

Designed for older adults experiencing early memory changes who continue to manage many aspects of daily life independently.

Connected Living builds on the foundation of Assisted Living by adding:

  • More consistent daily routines
  • Cognitive wellness programming
  • Gentle reminders and guidance
  • Specially trained team members
  • An intimate, small-house environment

Memory Care

Designed for individuals in the middle to later stages of Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia who benefit from a secure, highly structured neighborhood and more specialized supervision.

Connected Living is intended for an earlier point in the journey, before that level of support is needed.

Encircle® Care | The Kinwell Promise

Connected Living is guided by Encircle® Care, Kinwell's personalized, holistic approach to care.

Connection isn't simply part of our name. It's the foundation of how we care. Connected Living extends that philosophy with the right support at the right time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Connected Living designed for?

Connected Living is ideal for individuals who are beginning to experience early memory changes, confusion, or difficulty managing daily routines but who are still able to participate in conversations, enjoy social activities, and maintain many aspects of their daily life. It offers additional support beyond traditional Assisted Living without the level of care typically associated with Memory Care.

How do I know if my loved one needs Connected Living instead of Assisted Living?

If your loved one manages most daily tasks but forgetfulness is affecting medications, meals, appointments, or confidence, Connected Living may be the better fit. Every prospective resident receives a wellness assessment before move-in, and our team will recommend the level of care that fits just right.

Can someone move directly into Connected Living?

Yes. Residents do not need to move into Assisted Living first. If our wellness assessment determines that Connected Living is the best fit for their current needs, they can move directly into the neighborhood. Our goal is always to recommend the level of support that best meets each resident where they are today.

What happens if my loved one's needs change over time?

Care at Kinwell grows with you. If a resident in Connected Living eventually needs Memory Care, the transition happens within the same community with familiar team members, familiar surroundings, and no disruptive move.

What is included in Connected Living?

Residents enjoy a private apartment, three chef-prepared restaurant-style meals daily, housekeeping and laundry, daily programming, 24/7 team support, licensed nursing oversight, and Kinwell's full amenities plus the specialized structure and memory wellness programming unique to Connected Living.

How much does Connected Living cost?

Connected Living is $7,650 per month, all-inclusive. One predictable monthly rate covers your private apartment, personalized care plan, wellness oversight, three chef-prepared meals daily, housekeeping, life-enrichment activities, transportation, and 24/7 team support. We're happy to walk you through pricing and payment options, including VA benefits and other resources that many families use.
