GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Assisted living facilities in Grand Rapids are beginning to limit visitors in an effort to protect senior residents from the spread of coronavirus, COVID-19.

Provision Living’s senior assisted living community and memory care facility at 730 Forest Hill Ave. SE adopted a new policy Wednesday, March 11, that will limit non-essential visits for at least 14 days.

Todd Spittal, president and CEO of Provision Living, said the decision was made with the guidance of state and local officials, the American Health Care Association and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Grand Rapids facility had no confirmed cases of coronavirus or pending tests for the virus as of Thursday, according to Spittal. In addition, no positive tests for the virus have been reported in Kent County as of Thursday.
