Anyone whose family has been affected by dementia can tell you that the problem is not a lack of hope. In these families you’ll see people sacrificing their time, their resources, and even their health to preserve the dignity and quality of life of their loved ones.
At Provision Living, we believe that what’s lacking isn’t compassion, but imagination.
When we brace ourselves for a difficult journey when a parent or grandparent is diagnosed with dementia we risk a mistake: We fail to see that the disease and the suffering aren’t one and the same. Provision Living offers a solution for families that are uncertain about the right type of care needed.
Most senior living communities focus on placing elders in either memory care or personal care. But, when elders and their families have to choose between memory care and personal care, the choice often results in the elder moving into an area of the community that prevents access to needed memory care services.
Provision Living takes a different approach. Instead of forcing a choice between memory care and personal care, we support memory loss, Alzheimer’s and dementia needs for all elders. We do so by creating an environment where elders may experience their unique personhood and maintain their life force.
MEMORY CARE FACT: Up to 50% of people living with Alzheimer’s Disease are undiagnosed. (Alzheimer’s Association, 2015 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures)
In our community, elders direct their daily lives. Our focus is to create activity that is life engaging and meaningful in the moment.
Everything that is done is geared toward relationship building between elders, families and team members, and all attention is placed on each individual’s quality of life.
Team members are educated to the needs of people living with Alzheimer’s or related dementia. Our care partners will ensure that each elder’s choices, needs and desires are met to the best of our ability.
