What to Expect on Your First Day at a Provision Living Community

What to Expect on Your First Day

The first day of anything can be overwhelming. First day of school. First day on the job. And now, first day at your new senior living community.

Luckily, if you or your loved one has chosen a community within the Provision Living family, our teams’ highest priority is to make sure each resident feels as comfortable as possible on their first dayor any other! We want residents here to enjoy life with confidence: a safe, welcoming environment, a vibrant social scene, like-minded neighbors, attentive team members, and all the services, amenities, and programming they’ll need to thrive.

Read on for a glimpse of what you or your loved one can expect on day one at a Provision Living community!

Enjoy a warm welcome

When you or your loved one arrives at our door, our team of senior living professionals will be on hand to greet you and help you settle in. That includes being at your service to answer any questions you might have, take you on another tour of the community, and stay by your side to help disperse any nervous butterflies.

Our team will also introduce you to fellow residents who can get you acquainted with daily life at Provision, from how to navigate the community, to what sorts of activities there are to try, to making sure your first meal is accompanied by new friends.

Settle into your apartment

On moving day, our team will work closely with your movers to make sure you don’t have to worry about anything: we’ll show them where to go and what to do! We also encourage families to help with the move-in process, so you’ll have even more friendly faces helping you through any first-day jitters. Once the movers leave, our team can help you set up your apartment: hang your photos on the wall, organize your belongings, position the furniture the way you want it, and help with anything else you need to help you feel settled in!

Get to know the community

Our team members are a key part of helping new residents adjust to their new Provision community, especially answering any questions and facilitating connections with new neighbors.  Once you’re ready, team members and resident ambassadors will introduce you to fellow residents and invite you to join in on meals and activities, whether it’s a card game, a book club, a fitness class, a social hour, or just a walk in the courtyard. But, of course, there’s no pressure to get involved right away. You can connect when you’re ready!

Go at your own pace

The best senior living communities don’t pressure their residents to adjust too quickly. They know it’s important to make the transition as seamless as possible, ensuring residents’ first days proceed according to their own individual preferences and pace.

That’s why, at Provision, we encourage residents to dine with their family the first night and even accompany them as they check out what activities are available, meet team members and residents, and generally experience what life is like in the community. Some extra family time can be a comforting and fun way to start a new chapter!
