I am Holly Henderson, Dementia Specialist and Director of Memory Support for all Provision Living Communities.
In what way does your job provide you with meaning and purpose?
I love to witness when a resident living with the symptoms of dementia connects to a music program. To see them move from passive engagement to active engagement is pure joy. I know that within that moment, they feel like they are right where they are supposed to be. It is very powerful. What I love even more is that, behind the scenes, I know that active engagement will reduce their stress, improve their quality of sleep, and improve their overall wellness.
What is the most energizing part of your day to day?
It is exceptional to witness when a Provision team drives positive outcomes for our residents living with dementia. For example, a resident who was struggling and overwhelmed at home moves into one of our memory support neighborhoods and they begin to flourish. There’s nothing more energizing to me.
What motivates you to give your best at work?
I grew up in a small Ohio town where family was everything. I had the greatest set of grandparents and parents. They are no longer living, but I know they are proud of my work and dedication to seniors. Plus, now I have hundreds of “bonus” grandparents throughout all our Provision communities!
