What is dining with purpose?
At Provision Living, in our assisted living communities, we believe it means tailoring our cuisine to residents’ dietary needs and preferences, while ensuring mealtimes are always social, enjoyable, and meaningful. Thanks to our dietitians and culinary team, we’re able to ensure the best possible nutrition for seniors, along with chef-prepared meals served restaurant-style, communal mealtimes, and menus made up of nostalgic favorites, nutritious staples, and culturally meaningful meals.
By offering top-tier dining that’s healthy, delicious, and on-demand, our Provision lifestyle is truly maintenance-free. Without the stress of meal prep, residents here have more time and energy to spend on hobbies, making friends, and doing whatever it is they love to do. Here are just some of the unique features that make our dining program special!
Personalized dining
In Assisted Living at Provision, we’re proud to accommodate each resident’s dietary restrictions and preferences. One way our program does this is by ensuring our menus are reviewed by our registered dietitians and adapted to individual needs, working with physicians when necessary.
If your loved one has special dietary needs, one of our dietitians will work alongside them to understand their medical conditions, allergies, preferences, and cultural traditions around food, and to develop or accommodate therapeutic diets, including low sodium, heart-healthy, diabetic, and more. We also provide accommodation for seniors if chewing or swallowing becomes difficult, including texture-modified meals.
Routine and variety
Our dining menus offer healthy staples and seasonal treats with meals that include familiar dishes like steak, pasta, soups, and sandwiches, alongside reliable, nostalgic options like fried chicken, shepherd’s pie, and meatloaf, while also rotating in surprises like chef’s specials and cuisines from different cultures. At the same time, we also offer consistency: our structured schedule of mealtimes promotes sustainable healthy eating habits and helps stabilize the community’s daily rhythms.
Socializing at mealtimes
In practice, communal dining, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, has the potential to lead to livelier conversations, stronger relational bonds, and more meaningful interactions, creating a sense of joy and belonging in the dining room. That’s why Provision encourages our residents to celebrate their special occasions and host family guests as often as they would like. Our culinary team also frequently hosts themed dinners, special dining events, and “Chef Chats” and cooking demos that make our dining culture even more exciting!
Nutrition tips for seniors
Older adults naturally face changing nutritional needs due to a slower metabolism, decreased appetite, and a greater need for specific vitamins or hydration. Since these changes mean seniors typically need fewer calories, but more nutrients to stay healthy, Provision offers healthy snacks and beverage stations designed to encourage healthy eating, hydration, and portion control. Our care team members are also trained to track residents’ weight, labs, and food intake, which allows us to identify incipient health issues and intervene before they get worse, leading to fewer nutrition-related complications and hospitalizations.
