In the coming months and years, assisted living communities will increasingly focus on helping individuals with memory loss by empowering personal choice and providing forms of dedicated family support. Our purpose is to lead the transformation in assisted living and memory care by embracing change and nourishing elders and their families.
On October 25, 2016, Provision Living at West County will celebrate the opening of our doors to the public, which has already begun. Our grand opening event marks the culmination of more than a year’s work of planning and developing our community and our expertly trained and educated care team members. We are eager to begin serving and supporting the families and elders of St. Louis County.
We are Passionate about Person-Directed Care
When we began imagining what our West County community would be like, Provision Living was already operating more than 20 assisted living and memory care communities across the country. More than ten years of experience has taught us that both families and elders are searching for a new type of memory care – a Social Model of Alzheimer’s and dementia care that supports families as much as it supports our elders.
While most senior living communities focus on helping elders move in to either memory care or assisted living, Provision Living at West County offers a solution for families who may feel uncertain about the right type of care needed for their loved ones. Our approach does not force a choice between assisted living and memory care. Instead, we support memory loss, Alzheimer’s and dementia needs for all elders.
Eliminating Loneliness, Helplessness and Boredom
Our team members serve our elders as “Care Partners” and are educated and trained around the belief that care means to help someone to grow. Our way of care is based on a person-directed philosophy wherein elders in our community direct their daily lives.
Care partner teams work collaboratively to enable radiant living by creating opportunities for meaningful and purposeful activity — thereby working to eliminate loneliness, helplessness and boredom. This underlying philosophy prepares our community to meet the needs of people living with Alzheimer’s or related dementias in a resilient, flexible and highly responsive manner. Part of a Larger, Connected Community
Provision Living at West County is committed to active participation in the St. Louis community. We understand that our elders have diverse interests and their desires vary relative to how much they’d like to participate in different activities involving family, friends and local organizations. Our goal is to enable experiences that match the interests and desires of our elders, and we tailor our opportunities to engage in activities based on what elders tell us and our understanding of their capabilities and preferences.
At Provision Living, our approach to wellbeing takes on a social model of care that creates in-the-moment engagement. From our dining experience to our fitness programs, all of our activities are spontaneous and geared toward building relationships between elders, families and care partners while respecting the individual needs and characteristics of each of our elders.
Complementary therapies are offered to elders and exercise is scheduled, accessible and encouraged.
