One of the fortunate things about growing to our size at Provision Living is having lots of great stories within our communities, ranging from past times to new events. In this blog post we feature our GreenTree at Fort Harrison team and their recent efforts to bring new fitness and relaxation programs to the calendar of events at the residence.

On August 15, GreenTree at Fort Harrison will participate in National Relaxation Day, which popped up on Activity Director Holly Turner's schedule and seemed a nice way to strengthen the community's ongoing effort to integrate physical well-being programs into the daily routines of residents. 137811830 e983246023

Turner, who has been with the community for over six years, decided to offer facial and hand massages, as well as setting up a relaxation room where various exercises will be demonstrated. The challenge to incorporate regular physical fitness and therapy into one's schedule is not something that decreases as seniors transition to assisted living communities, and Turner is always on the look out for opportunities to provide activities that help meet the needs of residents.

Physical and occupational therapy programs are provided weekly at GreenTree-Fort Harrison and all Provision Living communities. Tai Chi was recently added to the weekly schedule and was well-received by residents, with over 15 participants joining the class, including a mix of men and women ranging in age from 75-85 years of age. The innovative exercise option, which was facilitated partially as a chair-based routine to ease residents into the program, is just one of an ongoing variety of fitness classes the community organizes.

On the other side of the relaxation subject, GreenTree-Fort Harrison recently renovated their beauty shop, to compliment the overall physical well-being component of the facility's amenities, and residents are taking advantage of the new spa features. GreenTree-Fort Harrison is a quiet, mature communty within the neighborhood and the sense upon entering the facility is one of well cared for residents and peaceful surroundings. Many of the staff members have been with GreenTree-Fort Harrison for five years or longer.
