The title of this post might be taken two ways...
First, it could mean we are exploring other blogs about seniors, or, alternatively, we could be looking at blogs written by seniors.
In both cases the topic is probably senior-related, so there's no need to be overly analytical. But for the purpose of this post, we are looking at the latter - Blogs written by seniors.
We begin with the blogger oldereyes, and right away the importance of regular updates becomes apparent, as this blogger rarely misses a day as he muses on grandchildren, prayer, family, aging, and the perspectives surrounding these topics.
Perhaps the most inspiring thing about this poster is his drive, which is exemplified in a quote from an early June post, "So, I surf over to Yahoo.com to see if something stimulates a few brain cells … and there’s a headline," says Bud.
It's fantastic to think that at any age one can relish in the joy of learning and discovery, and if you want to find out what he came upon...browse on over.
Suddenly Senior is a self-described "place for everyone who's become senior before their time," and as such there are not necessarily any age restrictions...but nonetheless, the topics engage areas such as retirement, and life in the slow lane, giving credence to the notion that the audience tends toward north of 55.
Top blog name honor goes to TheSavvyBoomer.com, which discusses golf, social media for those over 50, and delves in the political spectrum. It might be a little more slanted than we prefer, but that's what blogging is all about: taking a stand and writing about it regularly, and with enthusiasm.
There are many places to explore the realm of senior blogs, and one site that categorizes the subject can be found here. We don't peruse all of these in detail, but at a glance there seems more than enough content options to satisfy a diverse audience.
In any event, the trend toward seniors searching for, and more importantly, generating content on the web is a terrific one to see, because it represents the type of engagement and thriving spirit we at Provision Living believe in.
Enjoy the links, and we will catch you next week...
