At Provision Living, we believe in staying engaged and educated when it comes to the numerous issues of elderly care. Accordingly, we watch out for new and updated research and resources, and would like to point out several online destinations recently published, or updated.

Beginning with a fresh, searchable directory of senior living communities, AgingCare.com has redesigned its website to also offer a way to connect caregivers.

Individuals can create a free personal profile, and get customized information that is directly relevant to their care situation and find others who face similar challenges.

Regionally, the Indiana Association for Home and Hospice Care has released its 2011 Home Care and Hospice Guide, which contains listings of care providers as well as an overview of ethical guidelines to consider when looking into these types of care.

TheSeniorList.com published a helpful overview of dementia last week, which clarifies what the condition is, how it is caused, and how it differs from Alzheimer's.

Similarly, the Alzheimer's Association put together an online overview of the 2011 facts and figures related to the condition, which walks viewers through several informative details.

The SeniorCareServicesBlog.com offers tips for addressing senior sleeping issues, and urges seniors to address elderly insomnia as it increases one’s chances for depression, severe falls, and higher mortality.

This week is National Public Health Week, and among the tips for seniors is to keep a telephone near the stairway to your basement, which can be an invaluable resource if one slips or is hurt on the stairs.

New American Media's report that falls injure more seniors than crime helps draw attention to this critical issue. While falls don't grab the headlines, they do quite a bit of harm, and prevention is critical to senior health.

And, along those lines, is a report from the American Geriatrics Society cited on the website HelpParentsAgeWell.com offering elderly fall prevention guidelines.

Last week the United States showed strong employment growth in March, and accordingly we thought we'd include a list of tips for those seeking assisted living jobs.

Just so we don't forget our sense of humor, there's also news out today that Betty White will be hosting an NBC senior citizen prank show, and while we're not sure how educational this will be, it's sure to be tons of fun.
